Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM) Sonographer – Contract/Travel Health
Location: Ambulatory MFM Practice (Metro Accessible)
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM
Contract Length: 18 weeks
Start Date: ASAP
Setting: Outpatient / Ambulatory
Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM) Sonographer to join a high-acuity outpatient practice supporting women with high-risk pregnancies. This role offers a predictable weekday schedule, no weekends, and all major holidays off—ideal for sonographers seeking work-life balance while continuing to practice at a high clinical level.
The sonographer will independently perform advanced obstetric ultrasound examinations, including daily fetal echocardiograms, using state-of-the-art equipment in a collaborative MFM environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive obstetric ultrasound exams in a high-risk MFM setting
- Conduct daily fetal echocardiograms
- Perform detailed anatomy scans (60-minute exams; no back-to-back anatomies)
- Evaluate fetal growth, fetal anomalies, Doppler studies, and fetal well-being
- Provide compassionate, patient-centered care to women with complex pregnancies (e.g., advanced maternal age, diabetes, cancer during pregnancy, growth restriction)
- Independently manage exams from start to finish, including documentation
- Accurately document and upload studies using EPIC EMR
- Maintain and operate ultrasound equipment according to department standards
Patient Volume:
- Approximately 8–10 patients per day
Equipment & Technology
- GE Voluson systems
- ViewPoint software
- GE / Philips ultrasound equipment
Required Qualifications
- ARDMS certification (OB/GYN required)
Education
- Graduation from an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program
Licensure
- Current and valid certification in Fetal Medicine Foundation (FMF) to perform first-trimester nuchal translucency for risk assessment must be obtained within one year of hire.
- Current and valid certification in OB/GYN with the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS).
Experience
- A minimum of 2 years of experience as an Ultrasound Technologist.
Physical Requirements
- Stand, walk, and reach above the shoulder frequently in a clinical setting.
- Must be able to occasionally lift and carry or push and pull up to 100 lbs. as part of the role
- Regularly exposed to healthcare settings that may require personal protective equipment
- Requires manual dexterity to operate a computer keyboard, calculator, copier machine, and other equipment.
Preferred Qualifications
- ARDMS MFM certification strongly preferred
- Prior Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM) experience
- Fetal echocardiography experience
