The Company

A respected general contractor based in Maryland is seeking a Junior Estimator to join its experienced preconstruction team. This medium-sized GC specializes in government, data center, and commercial projects and recently moved into a new office in Columbia, MD. The company offers a family-oriented, informal culture and a flat hierarchy that ensures direct exposure to leadership.

Role Overview

As a Junior Estimator, you’ll be hands-on in preparing competitive bids for commercial projects ranging from $5 million to $20 million. You’ll collaborate closely with a seasoned team including:

• VP of Preconstruction
• x2 Senior Estimator
• Estimator
• 2 Estimating Coordinators / Purchasing Assistants

Responsibilities include:

• Developing scopes and coordinating legal aspects
• Performing detailed take-offs and job building
• Attending weekly estimating meetings
• Making occasional site visits (approximately once per month in the DMV)

The ideal candidate brings:

• Experience in commercial construction and general contracting
• Strong bid leveling and subcontractor relationship skills
• Confidence in phone communication and organizational prowess
• Ability to read drawings and analyze project details
• Excellent written and verbal communication

Compensation and Benefits

• Base Salary: $95,000 (negotiable dependent on experience)
