Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate heavy equipment such as bulldozers, excavators, backhoes, loaders, graders, and skid steers to move earth, materials, and equipment.
  • Drive and operate commercial vehicles (e.g., dump trucks, lowboys, flatbeds) to transport equipment and materials between job sites.
  • Inspect, clean, and maintain equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  • Load and unload materials safely and efficiently.
  • Read and interpret plans, blueprints, and grade stakes to complete projects to specifications.
  • Follow all safety regulations, company policies, and environmental guidelines.
  • Perform basic maintenance and minor repairs on equipment as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with site supervisors, project managers, and other team members.
  • Maintain accurate logs of equipment operation, fuel usage, and transportation activities.

Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or GED required.
  • Experience:
  • 2+ years of experience operating heavy equipment in construction, excavation, or related fields.
  • Experience transporting equipment or materials preferred.
  • Licensing:
  • Valid Class A or B CDL with a clean driving record.
  • Any additional equipment operator certifications a plus (e.g., NCCER, OSHA, MSHA).

Skills & Competencies

  • Proficient in safe operation of multiple types of heavy machinery.
  • Strong knowledge of DOT regulations and load securement practices.
  • Ability to perform pre- and post-trip inspections.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform manual labor as needed.
  • Extended periods of standing, sitting, climbing, or operating heavy machinery.
  • Willingness to work overtime, weekends, or travel as job demands.
